The political climate has thickened ever since Mohan Bhagwat, head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), purportedly remarked that leaders above the age of 75 should gracefully take a ‘respectful walk into the sunset’. This prompted the opposition to go on a strident attack against the Prime Minister, demanding his "retirement". In connection with Bhagwat’s supposed comment about posting off duties at 75, the Congress party commented sarcastically asking what homecoming it is for Modi that he was reminded of his turning 75 this year.

Congress's Taunt: What Kind of Homecoming is This?

During a visit to Maharashtra, Ramesh remarked that the Prime Minister can also say back that he too will be 75 on 11 September 2025. In his words, "Award seeking Prime Minister! What kind of homecoming is this - as soon as he lands home, Sarsanghchalak reminds him of turning 75 on 17 September 2025. But modi can also tell Sarsanghchalak that - he too will turn 75 on 11 sep 2025! One arrow, two targets”.

In the context of Modi and Bhagwat parting ways, congress spokesperson Pawan Khera also responded “ab dono apne apne bag uthao , ab ek dusre ko rah numaya karte chalo". He added “Good days are coming for the country. Bhagwat and Modi are going to leave.”

From Shiv Sena (UBT), these questions come from mp Sanjay Raut who asked the general public if PM will follow his own rule of 75 for retirement. Raut said, “Modi ji had sidelined leaders like LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Jaswant Singh when they crossed 75.”

Let us check whether or not he follows this rule himself."

Priyanka Chaturvedi, who is a member of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) responded too. She said, “This is a clear message and it is for the person who is turning 75 in September. This is now open discussion between RSS and BJP.” Chaturvedi certainly seems to suggest that this remark points towards a possible strategic shift in BJP's internal leadership dynamics.

What did Mohan Bhagwat say?

Mohan Bhagwat remarked for his 75th birthday, "When you turn 75, it means stop now and clear the route for others." This statement was made by him during a book release function in Nagpur on Wednesday. He quoted Moropant Pingle, an RSS ideologue who said that when a shawl is placed on your shoulders at 75, it signifies, “to step aside and make space for others to take over.”

Similarity in Age Between RSS Chief and PM Modi

It is interesting to note that both Mohan Bhagwat and PM Narendra Modi share the same birth month and year, with Bhagwat celebrating his birthday on the 11th and Modi on the 17th, both in September 1950. This is why the statement made by Bhagwat is considered pivotal in political discussions.

Concerns A Rising Controversy Along With The Nagpur Visit

The Sanjay Raut said that PM Modi RSVP’d for an Agenda-less meeting at the RSS Head Quarters near Nagpur in March after a period of more than a decade which in his words was “to discuss possible retirement”.

This is quite an age Ola and known not self controversy for which there were spec cast thought. BJP has had debates concerning an age cap of 75 years which allotted a number of elder statesmen to the ‘Margdarshak Mandal’ where they were posed as leaders in a ceremonial not engaging in politics. Whether this rule applies to Prime Minster Modi however remains in question.

PM Modi’s Opposition BJP claims he is set to enforce a new rule of age limit calling it baseless speculation, thus enforcing this claim issuing no invitation to a visit. Modi himself continues to head the country and fulfill his responsibilities. As he put it”There is no retirement age under the BJP constitution, where rules do not seem to exist.”. This talk does not seem to prove any greater resignation due to lack of ages old policies put in place.
