Malavika Mohanan recently shared a heartfelt reflection on her experience working on the set of Hridayapoorvam, a highly anticipated Malayalam film starring the legendary Mohanlal. Directed by the renowned Sathyan Anthikad, the film marks a reunion between the two, who are celebrated for their successful collaborations in the 1980s, including iconic films like Nadodikaattu and Varavelpu.
In her social media post, Malavika, who plays the female lead, described the set experience as extraordinarily warm and familial. “Very rarely does a set feel like family,” she wrote, expressing her gratitude for the wonderful cast and crew that made her feel at home. She also announced the completion of the first shooting schedule and conveyed her appreciation for everyone involved in the project.
Reflecting on the often fleeting relationships in the film industry, Malavika shared how Hridayapoorvam stood out to her. “When we are jumping from one film to the other, we make friends, acquaintances, confidantes, or sometimes people just remain good colleagues, but very rarely does a set feel like family. This one is that for me,” she said, adding that the experience had left her feeling “nourished and happy.”
Malavika also praised Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad for their ability to create cinematic magic, noting the profound professionalism, dignity, and respect that defines their collaborations. “Their work is filled with so much dignity, respect, and grace,” she added.
The picturesque location of Thekkady, with its stunning hills and tea estates, provided a beautiful backdrop for the film. Malavika fondly recalled the experience of working in such a scenic place, where she enjoyed “endless lemon teas to keep me warm in the cold evenings.” She also expressed her gratitude towards the team of assistant directors, whom she credited with helping bring the film to life.
Hridayapoorvam is scripted by Sonu TP, with a story by Akhil Sathyan, the son of director Sathyan Anthikad. Akhil is also a successful filmmaker in his own right, having recently directed Pachuvum Athbudha Vilakkum, starring Fahadh Faasil. The film also sees his twin brother, Anoop Sathyan, serving as an associate director.
Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner, Hridayapoorvam features cinematography by Anu Moothedath, editing by K Rajagopal, and music by Justin Prabhakaran.
This film is especially exciting for fans of Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad, as it marks their reunion after nearly a decade. Their last collaboration was Ennu Eppozhum, and their successful history of films from the 1980s—including Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam and Gandhinagar 2nd Street—has already generated great anticipation for this project.
With its experienced team and heartfelt approach to storytelling, Hridayapoorvam promises to be a nostalgic, heartwarming film that is sure to captivate audiences when it hits theaters.
