Pop icon Madonna announced that she and fellow music legend Elton John have officially ended their long-standing feud, which had lasted for more than two decades. The singer shared a heartfelt Instagram post revealing that the two finally “buried the hatchet” after Elton’s recent performance on Saturday Night Live (SNL).
Madonna Reflects on the Past and the Power of Music
In her emotional post, Madonna wrote:
“I went to see @eltonjohn perform on SNL this weekend!! WOW. I remembered when I was in high school—I snuck out to see Elton perform live in Detroit. It was an unforgettable performance that changed my life.”
She credited Elton’s performance during her teen years as a turning point:
“Seeing him perform made me realize it was okay to be different—to take the road less traveled. It helped shape the artist I became.”
An Apology That Ended a Feud
Madonna explained how she decided to visit Elton backstage after his SNL appearance, where he was joined by Brandi Carlile as a guest.
“I needed to go backstage and confront him. When I met him, the first thing he said was, ‘Forgive me.’ The wall between us fell down instantly.”
The moment led to a heartfelt reconciliation:
“We were hugging within minutes. Then he told me he had written a song for me and wanted to collaborate. It felt like everything came full circle.”
