The footage allegedly shows employees being forced to crawl on their knees like chained dogs and lick coins off the floor as punishment for not meeting targets.
Labour Department Orders Investigation
Following the reports, Kerala's Labour Minister V Sivankutty directed the district labour officer to file an urgent report. He described the visuals as "shocking and disturbing," stating that such actions are unacceptable in any work environment, especially in Kerala.
Video Evidence Raises Serious Concerns
In the footage aired, a man is seen using a leash to make another crawl on the floor. Employees claimed to local channels, as cited by ANI, that this was a common punishment given by the firm's management when targets were missed.
Police Aware But No Complaint Filed Yet
Police said the alleged incident occurred at a marketing firm based in Kaloor, with the reported act taking place in Perumbavoor. However, no official complaints have been received so far. The firm’s owner has denied all allegations, according to a News18 report.
Human Rights and Youth Commissions Respond
The State Human Rights Commission has taken suo moto cognizance of the incident based on a complaint from High Court lawyer Kulathoor Jaisingh. In parallel, the Kerala State Youth Commission has also filed a separate case and asked the district police chief for a detailed report, calling for legal action.
