Security was tightened in Kanpur’s Nai Sadak area on Sunday evening after claims surfaced of stone pelting during a Ram Navami procession. However, police officials clarified that no evidence has been found to support the allegations and that the situation remains under control.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shravan Kumar Singh urged residents to stay calm and avoid falling for unverified claims. An official investigation is underway.

Rumors Sparked by Viral Video

The police said the controversy began after a video emerged showing people running from a location near Chandreshwar Hata. Organizers of the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra filed a written complaint, alleging that stones were thrown at devotees returning from the event.

Police: No Evidence Found So Far

DCP Shravan Kumar Singh stated that no injuries or physical damage have been reported. “We have reviewed CCTV footage and other videos but found no credible evidence of stone pelting,” he said.

Police believe the incident might be based on misinformation and visuals misinterpreted on social media.

Public Asked to Submit Evidence

The DCP has requested media personnel and citizens to share any relevant photos or videos to help confirm the claims. “Our focus is on maintaining peace. If there’s real proof, action will be taken,” he said.

Police Deployment Increased in the Area

To prevent any escalation, a reserve force and personnel from nearby stations have been deployed in the Nai Sadak area. Authorities are on high alert and continuously monitoring the situation.

Strict Action Against Misinformation

Police have warned that anyone spreading false information will face strict legal action. Videos circulating on social media, which allegedly show participants fleeing, are under verification. The authenticity of these clips has not yet been confirmed.
