Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The launch of Sanjay Raut’s “Narkatla Swarg” (Heaven in the Swamp) occurred in Mumbai on Saturday, and Bollywood’s multi-talented Javed Akhtar graced the event with his presence as a special guest while also taking the opportunity to consult with a multitude of political figures who were also in attendance. As a veteran writer, Akhtar has made a name for himself by receiving a variety of accolades throughout his career, but this time he took the opportunity to speak on the ‘criticism’ he receives from different political and ideological spheres.
Akhtar Explains Ideological Extremism and Public Critique
While delivering a talk, Akhtar remarked on the extreme reactions to his comments. “The criticism is balanced. I am attacked from both sides," he pointed out. He also noted the support he receives, saying, “I have many people who come to offer their support, and a large number who congratulate and motivate me.”
Accompanied by the need to relieve the situation, he said, “I get insulted by the extremists on both sides. If one of them stops, I feel I have done something wrong."
Discuss Extremist Discourse and Self Identification
Touching on accusations from differing ideological perspectives, Akhtar said, “One of them calls me with a very nasty name and pronounces that I am bound for hell; the other one calls me a wannabe jihadist who is better off going to Pakistan. As choices go, Pakistan or hell, I’ll take hell any day.”
Relating to Kashmir and the latest acts of terrorism on Pahalgam.
While addressing the Pahalgam terrorist incident, Akhtar focused on the Indian operation Sindoor as a retaliatory military response. He contradicted the narrative that Pakistan has Kashmiris on their side. "Kashmiris are Indians. Their allegiance is to India 99%,” he said while remembering the Indians’ struggle during the 1947 Pakistani invasion to outpace Indian forces.
The Launch of 'Narkatla Swarg' was Quite Spectacular.
The politics of Sanjay Raut has been chronicled in the book ‘Narkatla Swarg’. The book was launched by notable personalities like Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhale, Uddhav Thackeray and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar which clearly shows the political relevance of the book.
