Recent leaks provide a first look at Apple’s iPhone 17 Air, showcasing its ultra-thin profile. Apple insider Sonny Dickson has shared images comparing it to other models in the iPhone 17 lineup. Reports indicate that the iPhone 17 Air will measure just 5.5mm in thickness, making it Apple’s slimmest iPhone in years.

Will the iPhone 17 Air Be the Slimmest iPhone Ever?

If the leaks prove accurate, the iPhone 17 Air will be the thinnest iPhone in Apple’s history. For comparison, the previous record holder, the iPhone 6, had a thickness of 6.9mm. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be 1.4mm slimmer, reinforcing Apple’s shift toward thinner devices.

iPhone 17 Air: Design and Display Details

  • Display Size: 6.6 inches (between the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max)
  • 120Hz ProMotion Display: Previously reserved for Pro models
  • Slim Bezels & Dynamic Island Cutout
  • Camera Control Button: Introduced in the iPhone 16 series

Reports suggest that Apple initially considered a 6.9-inch display for the Air variant but dropped the idea due to concerns over structural integrity.

iPhone 17 Air: Camera and Performance

Unlike the Pro models, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to feature a single rear camera, similar to the iPhone 16e, Apple’s anticipated entry-level model for 2024. Additionally, leaked images reveal a wide camera bump spanning the entire width of the phone, resembling the Google Pixel 9 series.

The device is also expected to be powered by Apple’s next-generation A19 chipset. However, it is unlikely to include a Pro variant of the processor.

iPhone 17 Air: Expected Price and Future Innovations

  • Expected Price: Around $900, similar to the iPhone 16 Plus
  • Future Possibilities: If successful, Apple may continue refining thinner designs, possibly leading to a port-free iPhone or even a foldable device by 2026
