This massive consumption, valued at over Rs 1,304 crore for the month, isn't just about fighting sickness. It signals a fundamental shift in the national mindset, especially in the post-pandemic era. Indians are increasingly moving from a reactive approach of treating illness to a proactive one of pursuing and maintaining wellness. The trend is also fueled by a desire to manage the growing prevalence of lifestyle diseases like diabetes and hypertension.

The data breaks down into two main categories: 59 crore units of vitamins and minerals, and an even larger 104 crore units of other nutraceuticals, which include products like probiotics and specialized dietary supplements. This indicates that consumers are not just seeking to fill basic nutritional gaps but are actively looking for targeted solutions to boost immunity, improve gut health, and increase energy levels.

Experts suggest this reflects a new "pill for every ill" culture, where people are self-prescribing supplements to feel their best. This behavior is driven by a heightened awareness of health and a desire for quick, convenient solutions to support a busy lifestyle.

However, this wellness boom comes with a significant note of caution. Health professionals warn about the potential dangers of over-supplementation and self-medication without proper medical guidance.
