In a massive boost to rural connectivity, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has laid the foundation stone for 774 road projects across the state. This mega infrastructure push, approved under the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), is set to transform the rural landscape by connecting remote habitations with high-quality, all-weather roads.
A New Era of Connectivity: 2,426 KM of Roads
The scale of this project is unprecedented for the state's rural development sector.
Project Scope: A total of 2,426.87 kilometers of new roads will be constructed.
The Investment: The state and central governments have allocated an estimated ₹2,225.44 crore for these projects.
Direct Impact: Nearly 781 habitations that were previously isolated will now have permanent access to the state’s main transport network.
Transforming Lives in Tribal and Remote Regions
Speaking at the state-level program at Ranjita Stadium, CM Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that these roads are the "lifeline" for rural India.
Healthcare & Education: Better roads mean faster access to hospitals for emergencies and easier commutes for students attending schools and colleges.
Economic Growth: Farmers in the interior regions will now be able to transport their produce like paddy and forest goods to markets more efficiently.
Bastar & Surguja Focus: A significant portion of these projects targets the tribal belts, aiming to integrate these regions into the mainstream economy.
Digital Empowerment: Launch of Atal Digital Service Centers
Alongside the road projects, the Chief Minister also inaugurated Atal Digital Service Centers. These centers are designed to:
Provide essential government services at the village level.
Save rural residents from making frequent trips to urban municipal offices for basic documentation.
Bridge the digital divide by bringing high-speed internet and e-governance to the doorstep of villagers.
Commitment to "Aabua Raj" (People's Rule)
The CM reiterated his government's commitment to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that road network expansion has accelerated significantly in the last decade. Deputy CM Vijay Sharma added that construction will begin immediately, ensuring that the benefits of these 774 roads reach the people within a strict timeline.
