Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The IMF has reported that its next funding review will occur during the second half of 2025 for Pakistan. As per Reuters, negotiations are still underway to tailor the terms for Pakistan’s 2026 fiscal year budget.

The P5 Group plus India stated that the IMF Pakistan desk will keep discussing the country update for the upcoming winter session. The Pakistan desk will in parallel discuss the 2024–2025 budget constraints referred to the Fund in light of the ongoing negotiations for the Multi-Program Framework with the World Bank.

The IMF urged keeping inflation lower than the SBP medium inflation target band of five to seven percent. The Pakistani authorities have committed to fiscal consolidation and a primary budget surplus of 1.6g of GDP for FY2026.

Pakistan Round Meetings and Supplementary Agreement

After one of the Pakistan rounds the IMF came up with stringent monetarist policies and came to the conclusion that inflation had to be kept at a certain level which led to the disbursement of 1 billion dollars aid which Pakistan received on account of surrendering further scope for agreement in equity drain out limits which were defined with easy over the extended put facility targets.

Nonetheless, the Fund has imposed 11 new structural conditions under the (everlasting) bailout agreement. This underlining aid comes with a caveat where increasing tension with India could severely impede the effectiveness these measures aim to dissipate.

PTI states that Indian officials are trumping any and all use of the plausibly reckless surrender aid misfishing proposed funds for multi-useage by avalanche structured groups aimed Multilateral aid fund were directly proposed targeted towards weapons directly aimed at arms speeding defaulting through and for surround funding.

India intends to advocate for the addition of Pakistan to the FATF 'grey list' and is expected to challenge future funding by the World Bank. This position is supported by increasing concern around security especially after the Pahalgam terror attack which killed 26 people.

Ongoing Disputes and Operations Sindoor

India undertook Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a response to the Pahalgam attack, targeting so-called terror assets in Pakistan and PoK. This action was taken on the basis of claims that the attackers were linked to Indian insurgent groups.
