Starting September 1st, there's some welcome financial relief for many business owners across the country. The oil marketing companies (OMCs) have announced a significant price cut for commercial LPG cylinders, a move that will help restaurants, hotels, and other businesses reduce their operational costs.

The Big Price Cut: What's New?

Effective from the morning of September 1, 2025, the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by a substantial ₹157.50.

This is the second consecutive month that the price for commercial gas has been lowered, bringing much-needed relief to the business community. After this latest reduction, the new price for a commercial cylinder in the national capital, Delhi, now stands at ₹1,522.

Here’s a quick look at the new prices in other major cities:

  • Kolkata: ₹1,636
  • Mumbai: ₹1,482
  • Chennai: ₹1,695

What About Household Cylinders? (The 14.2 kg Cylinder)

This is the most important point for families: this price cut applies only to the blue 19 kg commercial cylinders.

For the 14.2 kg domestic cylinder that is used in our homes, there is no change in price on September 1st. The prices for household cylinders remain the same as they were at the end of August.

However, it's worth remembering that domestic users recently received some very good news. Just a couple of days ago, the central government announced a major price cut of ₹200 on all domestic LPG cylinders across the country as a Raksha Bandhan and Onam gift.

So, while commercial users get the benefit this month, household kitchens are already enjoying the recent and significant price reduction. This latest move for commercial gas is a positive development that will hopefully help ease inflationary pressures on the food and hospitality industry.
