Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Innovative Technology has recently developed a software that facilitates choosing desired traits for infants before their birth. This invention is believed to change how babies are born. A US based company termed Nucleus Genomics specializes in IVF integrates software that assists in genetic screening and trait selection for pre- conceived infants as well.
With the ornamentation of IVF technology, parents can now determine the estimated dates of delivery for their babies alongside other attributes like eye color, hair kind, and even complexion.
How Does Nucleus Embryo Work And What Does It Do?
IVF techniques have changed over the years. Initially embryos were implanted in the womb with specialized tubes, but now Nucleus genomics has changed this process completely with their new software Nucleus Embryo.
The programs scans the embryo and check for possible traits it can pass down to the kids. More than 900 illnesses such as diabietes, heart problems, and even cancer are currently managed through this software.
The complete exercise follows this steps:
- First step involves granting access to the detectives who take charge of DNA samples of 20 embryos taken from professional clinics.
- The next stage includes interpretation where the software assesses each sample for possible measures of health and other appealing qualities.
Due to the software capabilities the parents now have the freedom to pick the most desirable profile from the remaining samples.
Beyond Health – Insights Into IQ and Appearance
With one step further than disease screening, this technology can also predict:
An individual’s potential IQ
Mental health indicators such as anxiety and depression
BMI (Body Mass Index)
Height and weight
Physical features such as hair color, eye color, and skin tone
Parents can select embryos based on health preferences along with personal, subjective preferences.
Ethical Concerns and Public Debate
The technology has a lot to offer, but there are very clear ethical concerns, some critics go as far as saying this “designs” babies. Should designating an enhancement be a genetic choice option?
The 25-year founder of Nucleus Genomics, Kian Sadeghi, states the goal is not to create “designer babies,” but rather enable health and wellness in the same way people get DNA tests for prevention.
