Bb1jwjig.imgThe Impact of PM Narendra Modi’s Decision: A ₹100 Reduction in LPG Cylinder Prices

In a significant move on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a reduction of ₹100 in the price of LPG cylinders. This decision, taken by the government just before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, is poised to benefit millions of families across the nation. In a tweet on Friday morning, PM Modi stated, “On this Women’s Day, our government has decided to cut the prices of LPG cylinders by ₹100. This step will not only make the lives of women easier but also reduce the economic burden on millions of families. Moreover, it will contribute to environmental conservation, ensuring better health for the entire family.”

The New Cost of LPG Cylinders

As of now, the cost of a 14.2-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder in New Delhi is ₹903. Following the government’s decision, a substantial reduction of ₹100 has been implemented, bringing the revised price down to ₹803. Additionally, beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana, who receive a ₹300 subsidy, will now obtain these cylinders for ₹603. According to government regulations, eligible beneficiaries are entitled to pay ₹300 for up to 12 refills of LPG cylinders within a year.

Implementation and Duration of the Scheme

The Cabinet, during its Thursday evening meeting, also decided to extend the subsidy of ₹300 provided under the Ujjwala Yojana for one more year. This subsidy, initially set to expire, will now remain in effect until March 31, 2025. Under this extension, women beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana will continue to receive an annual allocation of 12 subsidized cylinders. Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister, announced the Cabinet’s approval, emphasizing that this decision involves an expenditure of ₹12,000 crore.

How Much Will You Save Now?

With the recent reduction, the cost of LPG cylinders has become more affordable for households across India. The reduction not only eases the financial burden on families but also aligns with the government’s commitment to environmental conservation.

Ujjwala Yojana Continues to Empower Women

The Ujjwala Yojana, a flagship initiative of the government, has been instrumental in providing clean cooking fuel to women in rural and economically disadvantaged areas. The extension of the subsidy until March 2025 ensures that the positive impact of the scheme continues to empower women and improve their quality of life.

The Environmental Aspect

Beyond the economic benefits, the reduction in LPG cylinder prices contributes to environmental sustainability. With more households using cleaner fuel at an affordable price, the initiative aligns with the government’s broader goals of reducing air pollution and promoting a healthier environment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to reduce the price of LPG cylinders demonstrates a commitment to the welfare of women and families across the nation. This strategic move not only makes cooking gas more accessible but also addresses environmental concerns. As we celebrate International Women’s Day, this decision stands as a testament to the government’s dedication to the well-being of its citizens.
