As per officials, a fraudster has allegedly sold a parcel of land against the wishes of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh in the district of Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkarnagar. Anil Yadav, the caretaker, noticed that some construction was taking place at the site and that is when he decided to file complaints with the police and magistrates.

It has been reported that the 0.152-hectare land owned by Singh in Ramnagar Mahuwar village, along with plot number 1335 K, has been under Singh’s name since he served as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. Prior to that, In 1986, Singh’s mother, Aparna Devi, inherited the land in her name but had also passed away sometime around that period, which resulted in Singh applying for the land's inheritance.

According to caretaker Yadav, Singh's land was transferred into his name in May 18, 2024, after he put in an paperwork for inheritance. In the allegations presented by Yadav to the police as well as the custodian, it was mentioned that a resident from Kewtali Village called Ram Harak Chaudhari entered Singh's estate, impersonating him and selling off parts of his land to men like Jiyalal, Rajbahadur, and Mangli back in 1989.

On Friday, the buyer’s relatives commenced construction on the site. The district authorities have halted the construction and started an investigation into the land records, the officials stated. An official from Alapur Tehsil confirmed that the land is still registered under Singh’s name. Tehsil sources noted that the three individuals seemingly “purchased” the land using a sale deed but it was never mutated in the revenue records.

He legally transformed the title deed of the land to his name through mutation, a proceedings step in which land records are updated in case of ownership changes, or so they say.
