Suspense crime, Digital Desk : A customer's dream purchase from e-commerce giant Flipkart quickly turned into a nightmare after he ordered a brand-new MacBook Pro for a staggering ₹2.6 lakh, only to receive a clearly used device. The most alarming detail of the incident was that the laptop arrived in what seemed to be a perfectly sealed box, raising serious concerns about the platform's supply chain.
The customer, Rakesh Kumar, took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share his frustrating experience. He detailed how he had ordered the premium laptop but was shocked by what he found upon unboxing. Instead of a pristine new device, he discovered a MacBook that showed obvious signs of prior use, including scratches and smudges.
The most damning evidence was found when he turned the device on. A user profile named "Test User" had already been set up, confirming that the laptop was not new. Kumar shared photos and a video of the used device as proof of his claim.
The incident is particularly troubling because the product arrived in a sealed package, which should guarantee that it is factory-fresh and untampered with. This suggests a potential issue deep within the supply chain, where a used product may have been deceptively repackaged and returned to circulation.
Flipkart's official support handle responded to Kumar's public complaint on X, asking for his order details to investigate the matter further. The case highlights the potential pitfalls of high-value online purchases and puts a spotlight on the effectiveness of safeguards like "Open Box Delivery," a policy designed to prevent such occurrences by having the customer inspect the product at the time of delivery.
For now, the customer is left seeking a resolution for his ₹2.6 lakh purchase, while the incident serves as a cautionary tale for online shoppers and a major challenge to Flipkart's reputation for quality control.
