On Tuesday morning, police in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district engaged in an encounter with suspects involved in the brutal murder of three members of a family, including farmer leader Pappu Singh. Two accused were shot in the leg during the retaliatory action and later admitted to a hospital for treatment.
SP Dhawal Jaiswal confirmed that four of the six accused have been arrested so far. The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Murder Triggered by Rivalry and Local Elections
The triple murder took place on Monday near the Tahirapur intersection under the Hathgam police station area. The victims were:
Pappu Singh (50): Vice-President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), Fatehpur unit
Abhay Singh (22): Pappu Singh’s son
Rinku Singh (45): Pappu Singh’s younger brother
All three were fatally shot, reportedly due to a long-standing rivalry and disputes related to village Pradhani elections. The victims were ambushed and killed in a targeted attack.
Based on a complaint by the family, a murder case was registered against six individuals, including former village Pradhan Munnu Singh. ADG ordered the formation of ten special teams to track down the culprits.
