Electricity Defaulters Action: Due to extreme heatwave conditions, District Magistrate Anjani Kumar Singh has changed the timings of all schools up to class 8. From Saturday onwards, schools will work from 7 am to 12 noon until any further notice.

Official Circular Issued

In yet another step to clear pending electricity dues, Dakshinchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (DVVNL) has taken strict action against defaulters with pending dues of more than Rs 20000. Local Level teams are being set up for these actions to ensure they are done correctly.

According to official records, more than one lakh consumers are with outstanding bills more than Rs 50000. Even after repeated reminders and appeals these consumers are not serious enough to clear the dues. The government, anticipating higher electricity consumption during summers, has put forth strict measures towards persistent defaulters.

Local Teams to Ensure Compliance

Superintending Engineer Ravi Pratap has noted that specialized disconnection squads will be created for each of the three distribution blocks regionally. These squads under the supervision of the Executive Engineer will give defaulters one final notice to pay their dues. If payments continue to be unpaid, connections will be disconnected and the meters will be removed.

Termination of Services for Electricity Negligence and Theft

Employees whose negligence leads to unauthorized electric billing will receive harsh penalties. If any unauthorized consumption or theft of electricity occurs post-disconnection, the account of contractual workers will be terminated immediately.

Defaulters Overview Summarized by District

Distribution Section I: 1,784 consumers whose dues are from Rs 10,000-50,000 mark.

Distribution Section II: 40,281 consumers who have large outstanding dues.
