1. Most Affected Are Teens

Women reported their use of depression across all ages studied and found that, in comparison to men, women had higher rates. More than 25% of teenage girls were found to show signs of depression within the period of study.
3. Financial Status and Mental Health Connections
Depression was thrice as common among participants from low-income families when compared to those from high-income families. It is also important to note that stress because of finances continues to be a significant issue.
4. The Increase Rate is On-going
There has been a continuous rise in depression over the past decade; it increased from 8.2% in 2013–14 to 13.1% in 2021–23. It is emerging among men and women both.
5. Depression Hinders Daily Activities
Approximately 90% of individuals suffering from depression admitted to having considerable difficulty with even simple activities like working, cleaning, or social interaction.
6. A Majority do not Seek Professional Assistance
Regardless of severity, only 40% of individuals suffering from depression accessed therapy sessions in the previous year. Women appeared to be more willing than men, but a greater number of those who were affected did not receive treatment.
