It was a bloody Wednesday for Bihar as two districts reported brutal killings that have left local communities in shock.
Jamui: The "Prasad" Trap
In the Budhwadih village of Jamui, 50-year-old Dwarika Yadav lost his life over a long-standing land dispute. His family alleges that this wasn't just a sudden outburst of violence, but a cold-blooded trap.
According to his wife, Sangita Devi, the attackers lured Dwarika out of his house on the pretext of eating "Puja Prasad." Little did he know that 8 to 10 men, allegedly led by a local Ward Association leader, were waiting in the shadows. They attacked him with iron rods and wooden sticks. Though his son rushed him to a hospital in Deoghar, Dwarika succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Thursday. The police have recovered the murder weapon and are currently raiding locations to nab the suspects.
Madhubani: The Price of Love
Meanwhile, in Madhubani’s Manharwa Tola, a 21-year-old named Ranjan (alias Chhotu Saday) met a tragic end. His "crime"? He fell in love with a girl from his neighborhood.
Reports suggest that just ten days ago, the couple had fled to Nepal and got married. However, upon their return, the girl’s family was far from forgiving. On Wednesday evening, a group from the girl’s side caught Ranjan and beat him mercilessly. He died before he could get medical help. Police took custody of his body on Thursday morning for a post-mortem, and the village remains under heavy police presence to prevent further clashes.
These incidents serve as a stark reminder of how "mob justice" and "honor" continue to override the law in parts of rural India.
