CM Yogi Orders 50% Cut in Ministerial Vehicle Fleet - A Direct Response to PM Modi's Appeal
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed to the people of the state to join Prime Minister Modi's call. He urged the people of the state to reduce fuel consumption and refrain from purchasing unnecessary gold. He urged them to practically implement PM Modi's call in the state. In a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), and Additional Chief Secretaries/Principal Secretaries of all departments, the Chief Minister directed that the fleet of the Chief Minister and ministers be immediately reduced by 50 percent. Unnecessary vehicles should be removed from the convoy.
The Chief Minister also urged the state to prioritize the work-from-home culture. He placed special emphasis on the use of PNG, the metro, public transport, and Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation buses. He also emphasized the need to conduct government meetings, seminars, conferences, and workshops virtually.
Everyone has to be careful
CM Yogi said that the world is in turmoil, and everyone must exercise caution. States must be prepared to heed PM Modi's call. The CM urged ministers, MPs, MLAs, and public representatives to use public transport once a week. A weekly "No Vehicle Day" should be observed. This campaign should also involve various sections of society, including government employees and school and college students.
The appeal of work from home
The Industrial Development Department and IIDC should encourage work from home in industrial institutions, large startups, etc. Where large numbers of personnel are employed, a state-level advisory should be issued recommending two days a week of work from home.
Organizing meetings virtually
The Education Department's seminars, meetings, workshops, and other government meetings should be conducted virtually. Fifty percent of internal meetings of the State Secretariat/Directorate should also be conducted virtually. Encourage the use of school buses in schools and colleges. Transport Corporation buses should also be connected to schools if necessary.
He said that office hours could be staggered to reduce fuel consumption during peak hours. The Chief Minister emphasized the use of public transportation, cycling, carpooling, and electric vehicles. He urged people to maximize their use of the metro in cities where it operates. Public transport services, including buses, should be expanded on routes with high demand.
Appeal to the people of the state to save electricity
CM Yogi also appealed to the people of the state to conserve electricity. He also said that unnecessary electricity should be avoided in government buildings, homes, and private establishments. Private establishments/commercial complexes should minimize the use of decorative lighting after 10 pm. He stressed the need to promote public bicycle sharing schemes. He urged people to avoid unnecessary foreign travel for the next six months.
Appeal to organize the event within the country
The CM appealed to citizens and wedding planners to organize events within the country. He said that Uttar Pradesh also has many excellent sites, including heritage sites, eco-sites, and forts, and that destination weddings should be promoted there as well. A "Visit My State" campaign should be launched, promoting wellness, eco-, rural, wildlife, and food-based tourism. Uttar Pradesh is the first state to implement "One District, One Cuisine." The CM directed that museums and monuments, among others, be made free for a limited time.
Inspire you to travel around the state
The Tourism Department should hold meetings with hotels, airlines, tour operators, travel agents, and other organizations to provide necessary guidance. He urged migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, wherever they live, to encourage them to visit the state. For this, organize shopping festivals, heritage tours, visit cow shelters, temples, and other activities. Promote the use of products manufactured by local artisans, self-help groups, and local entrepreneurs.
Promote Indian-made gifts, products, and handicrafts at festivals and weddings. Gifts should be given from state governments that have received ODOP and GI tags. Promote indigenous products.
Urges reduction in edible oil consumption
CM Yogi urged the people of the state to reduce their use of edible oil. This step is essential for health, domestic savings, and reducing dependence on imports. He urged people to raise awareness through drama series. He urged the Health Department to organize nutrition awareness camps. He also urged extensive publicity in this regard. He also emphasized the use of less oil in food items in schools, colleges, district hospitals, private hospitals, medical colleges, government canteens, mid-day meals, jails, hostels, and police messes.
Local administrative officials should establish dialogue with unions representing hotels, confectioners, restaurants, dhabas, and street food outlets, and emphasize the promotion of low-oil foods. The Chief Minister directed the Agriculture Department to promote natural farming. The state's cow shelters house 1.4-1.5 million cattle; their dung should also be utilized. The Chief Minister placed special emphasis on the Farmer Registry.
Avoid unnecessary purchase of gold
The CM urged people to avoid unnecessary gold purchases. He said the administration should also meet with local jewelers' associations and traders to address their concerns. Expand the PNG network in the state on a mission mode, focusing on increasing its connections. He also called for meetings with city gas distribution companies. He also encouraged the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, which encourages people to adopt rooftop solar panels.
