China has emerged as India’s top import source during April-September this year. During this period, total imports worth $56.29 billion were made from China. During the same period, America emerged as the top export destination for the country. Exports to America increased by 5.62 percent to $40.38 billion. Imports from China have increased by 11.5 percent during the first half of the current financial year. Imports stood at $50.48 billion during the same period of the last financial year.
Top 10 sources of imports to India
According to the news, data, the top 10 sources of imports to India during this period were China, Russia, United Arab Emirates, America, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, South Korea, Switzerland, and Singapore. Imports from Russia increased to $ 32.18 billion during April-September in the current financial year, from $ 30.43 billion in the same period a year ago.
Top 10 export destinations by country
Similarly, imports from the UAE rose to $31.46 billion in the period under review from $20.70 billion in the first half of the previous fiscal. During this period, the country’s top 10 export destinations were the US, UAE, Netherlands, UK, China, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Germany and South Africa. Exports to the UAE rose to $17.24 billion during April-September in the current fiscal from $15.47 billion in the same period a year ago.
Exports to China increased to $ 6.91 billion.
Similarly, exports to China rose to $6.91 billion in the period under review from $7.63 billion during April-September 2023-24 a year ago. The US was India’s largest trading partner in 2023-24. It was followed by China. China was India’s top trading partner from 2013-14 to 2017-18 and 2020-21. Before China, the United Arab Emirates was the country’s largest trading partner. The US was the largest trading partner in 2021-22 and 2022-23.
