The police has started a campaign to catch Bangladeshis living illegally in the country’s capital Delhi. In its verification campaign against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, Delhi Police has identified 175 such suspicious people. Officials gave this information on Sunday. The police had launched a 12-hour verification campaign in the outer Delhi area from 6 pm on Saturday.

What did Delhi Police say?

Regarding this campaign, a Delhi Police official said- “The police have intensified their efforts to identify and detain persons living without valid documents. During a comprehensive verification campaign in outer Delhi, 175 persons have been identified as suspected illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

Action on LG’s order

Delhi Police started a campaign to identify illegal Bangladeshi immigrants living in the capital from December 11. A day before this, on December 10, LG VK Saxena’s secretariat had issued an order to take action against illegal immigrants. Since then, the police has started a campaign to catch illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

According to Delhi Police, the increasing number of undocumented migrants is raising concerns. The outer district police has started a crackdown in various areas under its jurisdiction. According to the police, special teams including personnel from local police stations, district foreign cells and special units have been instructed to conduct door-to-door investigations and collect intelligence about suspected illegal migrants.
