Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The BJP expressed its dissent and uproar over the Bengal unit of the BJP’s various stages of the bank protests after police in Ashoknagar had earlier prevented protesters from raising anti-Pakistani slogans or setting fire to the Pakistan flag, claiming the area to be sensitive zone.
Bengal BJP shared a video of the incident on the social media platform X, where BJP members were seen clashing with police during the protest. Bengal BJP posted, “In Ashoknagar, West Bengal, shouting slogan praising Pakistan or burning the flag is prohibited -- because under Mamata Banerjee’s rule, it is 'over sensitive territory.' Sensitive for whom? Pakistan or its sympathizers? This is a naked betrayal masquerading as good governance.”

The latest development in Ashoknagar was the confrontation of protesters with law enforcement. In the video, one of the officers could be heard repeating, “This is a sensitive area. You cannot do these here.” There is continuous shouting behind the cameras with protestors rallying alongside stating why is there an imposed ban on anti-pakistani slogans.
A bystander accused the Indian constables who were present of trying to gag control the inciting burning of Poland’s neighbors country flag. The event was markation barriers between civilians and law constable in a very agitated manner.
Amit Malviya Critiques The Government For His Own Reason
Malviya is known to be a BJP leader and he did not waste time complaining about the state’s decision on X. He stated, “Ashoknagar in West Bengal is apparently a sensitive area. So, there is no possibility of raising slogans against Pakistan or burning the Pakistani flag there!” Malviya seems to be confused as he states, what type of sensitivity is this? Who are the people whose feelings are being preserved?”
His remarks deepened the rift in the debates, bringing forth the overarching skirmish involving BJP and the ruling party of West Bengal- Trinamool Congress-led sate government.
Context: Tremendous Backlash in the Country after Pahalgam Terror Attack
Anger in Ashoknagar was partially catalyzed by the intense fury pervading the country catalyzed by anger in national sentiment concerning the Pahalgam terror attack on tourists. Terrorists attacked civilians in the Baisaran meadow of Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people, most of whom were tourists.
This attack incited protests all over India where the public was demanding law enforcement agencies to take robust actions against those responsible for this horrific act. Ashoknagar was one of the places that suddenly turned into a war zone with much anger directed towards Pakistan. However, this anger was suppressed by the local police.
