The political and educational landscape in Bihar has heated up significantly as independent Member of Parliament from Purnia, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, launched a one-day hunger strike in Patna. The MP joined protesting students and youth organizations gathered at Gardanibagh, who have been staging intense agitations over alleged irregularities, administrative flaws, and transparency issues concerning competitive recruitment exams. Demanding Cancellation of the 70th BPSC Exam and Total Transparency
Addressing the media and the gathering of charged students, Pappu Yadav declared that the legitimate demands of the aspirants must be fulfilled without delay. He vocally demanded the immediate cancellation of the 70th BPSC examination results, pointing out that repeated paper leaks, systemic malpractices, and the controversial employment of blacklisted testing agencies have completely ruined the sanctity of public examinations in Bihar. Emphasizing that merit is being compromised, the MP stated that full institutional transparency must be established across all recruitment boards to restore faith among the youth of the state.
Threatening an Indefinite Fast and a State-Wide Bihar Bandh
Scaling up his political pressure, Pappu Yadav issued a direct warning to the administration, stating that if the government fails to address the students' grievances promptly, he will escalate the agitation. He announced that failure to act would lead to a call for a complete Bihar Bandh, accompanied by an indefinite hunger strike. "This is a one-day token hunger strike today, but if the government does not listen, we will take our fight to the streets for a finish," Yadav asserted. The protest also touched upon broader political issues, including criticism of recent policy statements and administrative pressures.
