Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : Kaimur may have soil testing centers, farmers will benefit directlyFour new soil testing centers opened in Kaimur, farmers will get direct benefit The Agriculture Department is working to empower farmers in every respect. Under this scheme, soil testing centers are now being set up in blocks so that farmers can get their farmland soil tested at their block headquarters and cultivat crops accordingly, thus increasing the yield of their crops. The facility of soil testing was only available at Bhabua so far. However, now soil testing centers have been opened at the four blocks in Kaimur district, viz., Adhaura, Bhabua, Chainpur, Bhagwanpur and at Mohania subdivision. All soil testing equipment has been provided at all the sites. A trained worker has also been deployed at all the sites to impart them with the methodology and details of soil testing. According to the reports soil testing centers have been opened at Lohra in Chainpura Panchayat under Adhaura Block; Karma in Mahauri Panchayat under Bhabua Block; Hata Nagar Panchayat of Chainpur Block; and at Ramgarh village of Bhagwanpur Block. By opening of these soil testing centers, farmers will no longer need to travel to district headquarters for getting their farmland soil tested, the facility will be available at block level. Farmers can get their farmland soil tested at their nearest soil testing center and can find out the nutrients lacking and in excess at their farmland. Agriculture Department believes that indiscriminately application of fertilizer on soil without soil testing is harmful to farmers. Over use of chemical fertilizer depletes the soil fertility at the rate of 1.4 percent. Besides, inadequate fertilizers also adversely affects crop production. By analyzing of soil testing at block level, the farmer will know which fertilizer needs to be applied, how much quantity should be applied and what should be avoided. Application of fertilizer as per the analysis of soil will save the money of the farmer and increase the yield of his crop.
