Bank Holiday 2025: All banks shall remain closed today on Monday April 14, 2025 as Ambedkar Jayanti is being observed in the country. On this Day, countless bank users were wondering whether the banks will stay open or not. As per the holiday list of RBI, all government as well as private banks shall remain closed on April 14.

This day marks the celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. He was the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, a social reformer of great renown and the champion of the Dalit community. Tributes for Dr. Ambedkar are paid all over the country on this day. There is also a need to raise awareness about social equality, education, and justice which makes this day special.

In addition to this, other states of the country also celebrate various other festivals on the 14th of April which include Vishu, Bihu and Tamil New Year. Because of the festivals, banks will also be closed in some states. All these festivals are of cultural and religious importance.

Vishu is predominantly celebrated in Karnataka. It denotes the prosperity starting and new harvest of the year culmination and marks as an auspicious time of hope. On this day people do special puja and celebrate among each other.

Bihu is the most important festival of Assam, where it is celebrated with music, dance, traditional food, and great enthusiasm. Also, the new year in the state of Tamil Nadu is celebrated as Puthandu or Tamil New Year. People wish each other for a good future while wearing new clothes and decorating their homes. These celebrations portray the cultural and diverse unity of India.

When will the banks close during the month of April in the year 2025?

April 14 (Monday)  - Due to the observance of Ambedkar Jayanti and the New Year Festivals of some states (Vishu, Bihu, Tamil New Year) on this day the banks will remain non-operational in the state of Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, and Himachal Pradesh. 

April 15 (Tuesday)  - This day marks the holiday for banks in the state of Assam, West Bengal, and Arunachal Pradesh. The holidays constitute the observance of Bohag Bihu, Himachal Day, and the Bengali New Year in Himachal Pradesh. 

April 18 (Friday) - This day marks the holiday for banks in the state of Tripura, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, and Srinagar on account of Good Friday.

April 21 (Monday) - Commercial banks will observe holiday today in Tripura. Garia Puja, a tribal festival, will be celebrated in this region on this date.


April 29 (Tuesday) - Commercial banks will observe holiday today in Himachal Pradesh as Parshuram Jayanti will be celebrated on this day.


April 30 (Wednesday) - Commercial banks will observe holiday today in Karnataka as Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya will be celebrated on this day.
