
Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Inlight of the heightened friction between India and Pakistan, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 faced its official postponement on May 9. Just a few hours prior, the Indian Premier League (IPL) also had its fixtures put on hold for one week. Subsequently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) arranged for all foreign players to be bused to Dubai where they would later board flights heading towards their respective countries.
Cricketers From Bangladesh Relive Their Experience
Speaking about the serious situation at the Pakistani airport, Bangladeshi leg-spinner Rishad Hossaisin who was part of the Lahore Qalandars franchise mentioned that he was in fact calming down at the moment. Along with Rishad, fellow Bangladeshi fast-bowler Nahid Rana (Peshawar Zalmi) also confirmed that they both made it safely to Dubai.
“We have landed in Dubai safely after going through a lot of difficulties and we are grateful for that,” Rishad noted, talking from Dubai Airport. Revealing the plethora of issues faced in this process, Rishad noted that a missile was claimed to have hit the airport chronologically 20 minutes after they had departed, adding more fuel to the anxiety.
Participants From Other Regions Describe Their Severe Anxiety
Rishad added that the tension was also palpable amongst foreign players such as Sam Billings, Daryl Mitchell, Kushal Perera, David Wiese, and Tom Curran. “Mitchell told me that under these conditions he would never set foot in Pakistan again,” Rishad said.
Rishad spoke about a touching incident with Tom Curran, the latter crying when he found out the airport was shut down. “He started crying like a child… Two to three people had to console him,” Rishad said.
Players Dissent Continued Engagement with the Matches in Pakistan
After some time, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi suggested that the last matches be held in Karachi. But after a meeting with foreign players, they expressed high levels of concern about their safety, so the idea was changed. The athletes were made aware of two drone strikes happening in close proximity to where they were staying, which was information that was kept from them prior.
Rishad highlighted the fact that the board’s chairman was essential in the decision of shifting the operations to Dubai and the evacuation of all the foreign players.
