Spiritual Importance of Bagalamukhi Jayanti
Bagalamukhi through Peetambara, Brahmastra is also known as one of the powerful Mahavidyas. What makes her worshipped the most, is her divine ability to restrict negativity, silence opponents, and offer protection to her devotees. Her devotees especially value her for:
Countering legal battles, her devotion makes one emerge victorious
Shielding from enemies
Presiding over competition and debates to ensure victory
Mental and spiritual strength.
Her name Bragada means to “restrain or control” which also comes from Sanskrit word Valga.
Mythology and Culture
When the earth was destructively threatened by a cyclone, goddess Mahatripura manifested herself to restrain the storm. Following through, lord Vishnu started performing penance. Later she is known to have come forth Bagalamukhi from Haridra Sarovar (turmeric lake).
While the Chaturdashi ‘appearance’ is associated with Bagalamukhi, she is worshipped on Ashtami, marking her spiritual revelation. She is said to be born of divine sages like Brahma, Sanaka, Sanat Kumara, and Narada.
Bagalamukhi symbolizes power and, stability. She is related with Lord Vishnu’s Kurma socket. Her worship becomes essential for achieving Stambhana (to immobilize harmful influences) and Vashikaran (to attract divinely).
Bagalamukhi Jayanti Puja Vidhi (Rituals)
On this day, devotees perform special rituals commencing with am puja. The overarching flag of the goddess’s energy, yellow, must be the color of all puja in offerings. Her energy is to be anchored in every act of the devotee.
Rituals of the puja are:
Put on a yellow dress after taking a holy shower
Put out turmeric, yellow flowers, yellow sweets and clothes
Chanting of Bagalamukhi Mantras
Homam (specifically fire ritual) using mantras designated for Bagalamukhi
Reciting Bagalamukhi Kavach, Bagalamukhi Stotra, and other lembas
But they just touch some advanced forms of tantras pujas in ashrams and temples of the goddess.
