Indian wireless sector at a critical juncture

After the announcement of the company’s financial results, the CEO of the telecom company Akshay Mundra said that the loss of customers to BSNL due to the recent increase in tariff rates is now reversing due to the “network experience” of the government telecom company. He said that the Indian wireless sector is at a critical juncture.

Large investments needed to support data development

CEO Akshay Mundhra said that while on the one hand, there is a need for large investments to support the emergence of new technologies and data development, on the other hand, there is also a need to maintain tariff affordability to ensure connectivity to all sections of society. He said, “This is possible only when customers who use more services pay more so that the industry can get a reasonable return on the large investments made. Therefore, the industry needs to further rationalize tariffs to recover its cost of capital.”
