Anurag Kashyap Shares How Vijay Sethupathi Helped Fund His Daughter Aaliyah's Wedding:

Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap recently revealed the financial trouble he encountered prior to his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap getting married in December 2024. He stated that Tamil film star Vijay Sethupathi came to his rescue during this difficult period.

While speaking at The Huddle event curated by The Hindu, Anurag noted how the exorbitant costs of weddings was a looming concern for him. While he was carrying out post production work for his film ‘Kennedy’, he crossed paths with Vijay Sethupathi who was a frequent visitor at a neighboring house. That’s when Vijay got him to read a script that they had been trying to make him read for ages.

Vijay Sethupathi Offers Help Through ‘Maharaja’ Role

Anurag stated that he has turned down numerous South Indian film roles after his stint in Imaikka Nodigal. However, during those interactions with Vijay, he shared his worries about the wedding. In response, Vijay came up with the counter that said it’s going to be fine.

As a result, this is what prompted Anurag to agree to the role which he was offered by Nithilan Saminathan in Maharaja. The negative character Anurag played in the latter proved to be unexpectedly important for him professionally and personally.

Maharaja’s Wedding Celebration and Accomplishments

In June 2024, Maharaja was released and became a sleeper hit. It grossed around ₹190 crore worldwide and became one of the highest earning Tamil films for the year. The film had a powerful cast that included Vijay Sethupathi, Mamta Mohandas, Natty Subramaniam, Abhirami, and Divyabharathi.

Anurag’s daughter Aaliyah tied the knot with Shane Gregoire in Mumbai December 2024. Some popular guests at the wedding reception included Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, Suhana Khan, Naga Chaitanya, Sobhita Dhulipala, Abhishek Bachchan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Bobby Deol.
