On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah remarked that talks between AIADMK and BJP over a possible alliance in TN are ongoing.

He lamented that the once developing state has been thrown into disorder owing to the policies of the DMK government. “The Stailn government has made the situation of the state worse. There are no opportunities for employment for the youth, industries are shutting down, and even with increased wage offers, people do not want to work there,” he said.

He also called the DMK as “anti-Tamil” because the government of Tamil Nadu has not yet commenced medical and engineering education in Tamil and even the texts have not been translated into Tamil.

Emphasizing on his point, Shah expressed his confidence that an NDA government will rule in the southern state after 2026 Assembly elections.

He said that the DMK government in Tamilnadu is claiming to have done ‘development work’ which is false as all that they have done is corrupt all work, this emigration because of this corruption has made the industries leave the state and the young people too.

“According to Shah, who spoke at the Times Now Summit 2025, “An NDA government will be set up in Tamil Nadu during the next elections,” he said. “The rest of the state, known to be the most developed region of South India, fell into turmoil because of overhead policies of the DMK, which put the citizens into utter rage.”” Shah has voiced optimism that the public in Tamil Nadu will oust the DMK from power.  “After my last tour of the state, I could feel the sentiments of the citizens,” Shah said.  When asked about the DMK's antagonism toward the delimitation on the Lok Sabha constituencies, the home minister said, “...the regional party is just playing politics in view of the elections.” “Has the (central) government issued a statement concerning delimitation? Why have they brought it up now? Because it's dependent on the elections. They have spent the last five years engaging in corrupt activity and now they appear to be energized.” “I am certain that there will be no wrongs towards anyone in delimitations when accurate boundaries are established. The chances of grievances made by anyone not being received, is less than an amount so infinitesimally small, such as .0001.”

Shah has also suggested that DMK leader and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M K Stalin intends to groom his son and current state minister Udhayanidhi Stalin as his heir as the regional party is “sinking into dynastic politics.”

"He stated that the DMK government that has not initiated medical and engineering programs in Tamil language is actually anti-Tamil,” he stated.

As Shah stated, “It is a clear violation of the National Education Policy (NEP) that primary education is not taught in the mother tongue."

"He stated, “I have asked the DMK to teach technical subjects like medicine and engineering in the Tamil language, but they have not done so. They have not published the books in Tamil.”

Because of the DMK's obstinacy, the commonplace university entrance examination for admission to undergraduate courses in central universities has been said to be in 13 languages but not in Tamil, the home minister stated.

The national leadership will make the decision: Annamalai

BJP Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai stated on Friday that the central leadership makes an “appropriate decision” regarding the structure and nature of the alliances for the 2026 assembly elections which intend to remove MK Stalin's ruling DMK.

“As the president of Tamil Nadu BJP, my responsibility is to consolidate the party in the state, which is what all of us are trying to do. The leaders are supporting me, and the cadres are supporting me, he elaborated.
