Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In the vast and often strange world of the internet, old claims can find new life, and a peculiar superstition involving former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and a tragic plane crash is once again making the rounds on social media.

The viral post attempts to draw a dark connection between what was supposedly Rupani's "lucky number" and the fatal Air India Express crash in Kozhikode. During his tenure as Chief Minister, Rupani's official vehicle famously bore the license plate "GJ 18 G 1206." He was known to favor the number, which totals 9, a figure considered auspicious in numerology.

The social media claim, however, tries to link this number "1206" to tragedy, alleging it was "unlucky." The posts often incorrectly cite the date or details of the plane crash to fit their narrative.

For the record, the incident being referenced is the tragic crash of Air India Express Flight 1344. The flight went down at Kozhikode's Calicut International Airport on August 7, 2020, not on June 12th (12/06). The flight number was 1344, and the date was 07/08/2020.

The claim attempts to link the number "1206" to the tragedy, a connection that falls apart under factual scrutiny. The flight number was different, and the date does not align with the "12/06" format suggested in some versions of the viral story.

This phenomenon highlights a common online trend where coincidences and numerology are woven into conspiracy theories or superstitions surrounding public figures and major events. The story of Rupani's "unlucky" number is a piece of viral folklore, a baseless but persistent claim that resurfaces periodically, fueled by the internet's fascination with patterns and hidden meanings—even when none exist.
