While appearing on News18 India television’s ‘Diamond States Summit’, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that separatist violence in Jammu and Kashmir region has diminished since the state’s Article 370 was abrogated in 2019, and went on to detail controversial crpf interviews. According to him, stated Abdullah, having crpf protection was, in the past, unimaginable, for the head of the separatist movement.

The Chief Minister mentioned that separatist activity in Jammu and Kashmir has reduced since 2019, which resulted in an overall better situation. Further, he remarked that it was previously unfathomable that a Mirwaiz Umar Farooq would be taken care of by the CRPF.

Abrogation Of Article 370

The union government on August 5, 2019, decided to pull back the special provisions related to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.

Amit Shah, the home minister, stated in the Rajya Sabha, that the government has repealed the Article 370 provision that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

The government promulgated an ordinance abolishing the special provisions and status of Jammu and Kashmir by repealing 35A of the constitution.

The Reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha, which sought to split the state into 2 Union Territories, Ladakh and Jammu-Kashmir.
