Mahashivratri 2025 Puja Vidhi : Mahashivratri holds great significance in Hinduism as it is dedicated to the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to religious beliefs, Mahadev and Mata Parvati were married on the Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Falgun. On this sacred occasion, grand Shiva processions take place across the country, and devotees gather at temples to offer special prayers. Observing a fast on Mahashivratri is believed to fulfill all desires and bring divine blessings.

Lord Shiva, also known as Bhole Bhandari, is considered extremely benevolent and fulfills the wishes of his devotees. Many young women aspire to have a husband like Lord Shiva, known for his devotion and compassion. It is believed that unmarried girls who observe a fast and worship Shiva-Parvati on Mahashivratri receive the blessing of an ideal life partner and a happy married life. Those facing obstacles in marriage are also advised to observe this fast, as it is believed to remove hurdles and bring about an auspicious union. Mahashivratri Puja Vidhi (Worship Method)

To perform Mahashivratri Puja correctly, follow these sacred rituals:

 

                                 Preparations for the Puja:

Wake up early in the morning, take a holy bath, and wear clean clothes. Avoid wearing black or grey.

Clean the home temple or prayer space and sprinkle Ganga water to purify it.

                       

Worship Rituals:

Perform Abhishek (ritual bathing) of the Shivling using Ganga water, milk, curd, honey, and pure water.

Offer flowers, Bel leaves, and Dhatura to the Shivling.

Light incense sticks and an oil lamp near the Shivling.

Present sugar candy, kheer, sweets, and plums as offerings to Lord Shiva.

Offer wedding-related items to Goddess Parvati as a gesture of devotion.

Recite Shiv Chalisa and chant Shiva mantras to seek divine blessings.

                                                                                  Fasting Guidelines:

Observe a strict fast throughout the day and night.

Refrain from consuming salt or food on this day.

The fast should be broken the next morning after sunrise.
