In a bid to bolster the safety and ease of the millions of pilgrims visiting the Maha Kumbh Mela, the Uttar Pradesh Police have set up ten state-of-the-art digital ‘Khoya-Paya Kendras’ around the area. Each center is equipped with 55 inch LED TV screens connected to a PA system to facilitate better communication about lost and found people and items.

Apart from lost and found, the centers will also give vital ghat and route information during Mahakumbh with Bhanu Bhaskar, Additional Director General (ADG) Zone further adding that everything is being done to cater the large number of devotees expected to come.

He went on to say that the main model center would staff five people on average, with nine being used during the bathing festivals to assist with the immigration process.

What is the process of functioning of the Khoya Paya Kendra:

The officer stated that informers would receive computerized receipts in return and the centers would digitally capture the details of lost items and people. For quick recognition, all centers in the modern communication network would show photos of missing people along with their details on 55 inch LED screens.

According to Bhaskar, missing person searches along with lost items retrievals will be broadened as information is going to be disseminated via Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp, as he adds that the digital centers will specialize in mobile phone, missing children, purses and other belongings.

Fair grounds across the city have been allocated with distinct enquiry centers so as to facilitate the pilgrims better as claimed by the ADG. He further assures that these centers will stock advanced information regarding Maha Kumbh, the city of Prayagraj and its Mela region.
