Kho-Kho World Cup Trophy And Mascots: The first Kho-Kho World Cup is going to be held in India from 13 to 19 January, in which matches will be played in both men's and women's categories. The trophy and mascot for the first World Cup were unveiled at an event held in Delhi on January 3. 21 men's and 20 women's teams will participate in this tournament at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The World Cup will have two trophies - a blue trophy for the men's championship and a green trophy for the women's event. At the same time, the pair 'Tejas' and 'Tara', who serve as official mascots, were also introduced. A blue trophy for the men's championship and a green trophy for the women's event. Both trophies reflect the dynamic spirit of Kho-Kho through their contemporary design, which features flowing curves and golden shapes.
Indian men's team will play its first match against Nepal
Men's teams from 20 countries are participating in the first Kho-Kho World Cup, in which the Indian men's team will play its first match against Nepal on the very first day of the tournament. All the teams have been divided into four different groups in which the top-2 teams in each group will secure their place for the quarter finals. Apart from Nepal, Peru, Brazil and Bhutan have been included in Group A of the Indian team. Talking about other groups, South Africa, Ghana, Argentina, Netherlands and Iran have been included in Group B, while Group C has teams from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, South Korea, USA and Poland. Group D has teams from England, Germany, Malaysia, Australia and Kenya.
The women's team will play a match against South Korea on January 14
The Indian women's Kho-Kho team will play its first match in the World Cup against South Korea on January 14. Iran and Malaysia have also been placed in Group A along with them. Apart from this, England, Australia, Kenya, Uganda and Netherlands are in Group B, while Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Germany and Bangladesh are in Group C. Apart from this, South Africa, New Zealand, Poland, Peru and Indonesia are in Group D.
One team from each continent of the world is participating
Regarding the Kho-Kho World Cup, Secretary Sudhanshu Mittal said that every country from every continent of the world is definitely reaching to participate in this tournament, 24 countries have reached to participate in this tournament. This game went from soil to mat and it has spread all over the world. There will be an opening ceremony before this tournament. So far 4 lakh children have been associated with this game and their registration has been done. We are very grateful to all our stakeholders who will join in supporting the inaugural edition of Kho-Kho World Cup 2025. The World Cup will be live streamed for free on Disney+ Hotstar and will also be broadcasted for free on DD Sports and this will give a huge boost to India's indigenous game. This is the first step towards taking the world game to the Olympics and with the help of all our partners, we hope to show the beauty of Kho-Kho to the world.
