Podgorica (Montenegro): The gunman who killed at least 12 people including two children in a shootout in the city of Cetinje in the south-eastern European country of Montenegro, shot himself after being surrounded by policemen. This information was given by the authorities. Officials said that at least four people were also injured in the firing that took place after a dispute in a bar in the western city of Cetinje on Wednesday. 

The attacker shot himself

Home Minister Danilo Saranovic said the attacker, Aco Martinovic (45), also killed the bar owner, his children and members of his own family. The whereabouts of the attacker, who fled after committing the crime, were traced and surrounded by police. Saranovic said he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head after being surrounded by policemen. Police sent a special team to search for the attacker in the city of Cetinje, located about 30 kilometers from the capital Podgorica.

Police commissioner Lazar Skapanovic said the shooter, Martinovic, had been at the bar all day with other guests. He said Martinovic went home after the argument, brought home a weapon and began shooting at about 5:30 p.m. "He killed four people at the bar" and then fired at three more locations before heading out, Skapanovic said.

President Jakov Miletovic said he was shocked by the incident. He wrote in a post on 'X', "Instead of celebrating the holiday, we are saddened by the loss of innocent lives." Prime Minister Milojko Spasic went to the hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured and announced three days of mourning. He said, "This is a terrible incident that has affected all of us."
