A day after engaging in a heated confrontation with US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was received with much courtesy by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Saturday.

“In relation to the American discussions, as defenders along with our allies, we need to step up our work on the European side of the security guarantee,” said Starmer in a statement issued late on Saturday.

“Now is the time for all of us to come together to guarantee the maximum for Ukraine, the minimum for insecurity in Europe, and the best for all of us in the future,” he added.

Crowd members supported Zelenskyy as he made his way into Downing Street in a convoy, where he was met with an embrace from Starmer and took photos with him before entering the official residence of the British leader, marches report to AFP.

Starmer, as reported by AFP, welcomed Zelenskyy saying, “You’re very, very welcome here in Downing Street’’

Stating to X, Keir Starmer said, “We offer not just words. Britain stands firmly with Ukraine today, and always will.” Unlike the tensed environment of the Oval Office when he discusses with Trump about placing a ceasefire in the Ukraine war, Starmer welcomed the Ukrainian President on the streets beside his 10 Downing Street residence. “I want to express my gratitude to the people of the United Kingdom who untiringly supported us since the onset of this war,” was Zelensky's reply. Ukraine and UK had also signed a loan agreement of $2.84 billion that will aid in bolstering Ukraine’s defensive capabilities, which will be paid back using the profits from the immobilized sovereign Russian assets. “The money will be used for production of arms in Ukraine,” stated Zelesnky on X. They met for the informal discussion for about three quarters of an hour, and accompanied by Starmer, who ushered Zelesnkyy to his car, once more they hugged. The meeting took place a European summit to be held in London. Britain has remained one of the strongest supporters of Ukraine. And tomorrow Zelenskyy will meet with King Charles III, who, on this occasion, has already publicly voiced his support for King of Ukraine. Charles has previously mentioned the tremendous “will and courage” shown by the people of Ukraine during Russia's unprovoked attack.

The president of Ukraine is set to meet the King at Sandringham estate in eastern England, reports the UK’s Sun newspaper.

Diplomatic confrontation at the White house.

In a striking meeting Donald Trump had on Friday, he attempted to threaten To withhold America’s backing to Ukraine and accused Zelenskyy for being rude to America.

The stand-off got so intense that the president of Ukraine was reportedly invited to leave the white House by staff, since he did not have the minerals agreement document necessary for which is believed will furtherge the economic and defense relations between the capital Washington and Kyiv.

After the meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy, several european leaders sent supportive messages to Ukraine and solider highlighting disagreements among traditional allies America and Europe ever since Trump returned Trump to office.

After the spat, on saturday, Zelenskyy said that he received crucial support from Trump in their war which was essential and stated he is willing to accept the minerals deal. But he maintained that such agreements in and by themselves do nothing and claimed that Ukraine is not going to support any peace settlement for the standoff without serious security guarantees toward Kyiv some of which the US backs supporting peace in the region.
