New Delhi: Big news is coming out related to the Chief Justice of the country DY Chandrachud. According to sources, CJI DY Chandrachud has recommended the name of the most senior judge of the Supreme Court, Sanjeev Khanna, as his successor. Last Friday, the government wrote a letter to the outgoing CJI asking him to send his recommendation as per the Memorandum of Procedure. Let us tell you that CJI DY Chandrachud is retiring on November 10 after a tenure of two years.

On Wednesday itself, DY Chandrachud’s efforts bore fruit

On Wednesday itself, it was decided that the blindfold on the eyes of India’s goddess of justice has been removed. With this step, the Supreme Court gave a message to the country that now the ‘law is not blind’. Let us tell you that all this exercise was done by Supreme Court CJI DY Chandrachud. This statue has been installed in the judges’ library in the Supreme Court.

On the instructions of CJI Chandrachud, the statue of the Goddess of Justice was made afresh. First of all, a big statue was installed in the judges’ library. The earlier statue of the Goddess of Justice had a blindfold on both her eyes. In the new statue, the eyes of the Goddess of Justice are open and there is no blindfold. Also, there used to be a scale in one hand and a sword, a symbol of punishment, in the other. However, now the Constitution has replaced the sword in the hands of the statue of the Goddess of Justice. The scales in the other hand of the statue are as before.

According to sources, CJI Chandrachud believed that we have to move beyond the British legacy. The law is never blind, it sees everyone equally. Therefore, the form of the goddess of justice should be changed. Also, the goddess should have the Constitution in one hand instead of a sword, so that the message goes to the society that she dispenses justice according to the Constitution. The scale in the other hand is correct because everyone is equal in her eyes.
