Commuters traveling between Ranchi and Lohardaga have a reason to cheer. In a recent press conference held at the Hatia Railway Division office on Thursday, DRM Karunanidhi Singh announced that a formal proposal has been sent to the railway headquarters to introduce a new train on the Ranchi-Lohardaga rail section.

This move is expected to significantly boost regional connectivity and ease the daily commute for thousands of passengers.

Key Highlights of the Railway Expansion

The proposal for the new train comes at a time when the Ranchi Railway Division is witnessing rapid infrastructure growth. DRM Singh highlighted several key updates:

Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: The modernization of Piska, Muri, and Lohardaga stations is nearing completion.

Platform Expansion: The yard remodeling at Ranchi Station is finished. New lines are being added to the Lohardaga side, and an additional platform is in its final stages of construction.

Increased Capacity: Two more new lines will be added in the current financial year to handle increased traffic.

Vande Bharat Maintenance Approval

In a major boost to the division's technical capabilities, the Ranchi Rail Division has received official approval for the maintenance of Vande Bharat Express trains. This development ensures that high-speed rail services in the region will have better operational support and efficiency.

Operational Success and Safety

Reflecting on the previous financial year’s performance, the DRM shared impressive statistics:

Infrastructure: 87 kilometers of track were successfully renewed.

Punctuality & Safety: Signaling failures have dropped by 12%, ensuring smoother operations.

Passenger Growth: The division saw a 2.3% increase in passenger numbers, indicating a rising demand for rail travel in Jharkhand.

Restoration of Services on Koel River Bridge

It is worth noting that rail services on this route were recently fully restored after the repair of the Koel River Bridge (Bridge No. 115). With the bridge now stable and a new train proposal in the works, the Ranchi-Lohardaga-Tori section is set to become a vital artery for the state's transport network.
