Varun Dhawan’s most recent release, Baby John, has become a major success in the OTT space. Since it came out on Amazon Prime Video, the film has been topping the charts and has now held the first position for 10 days straight.

Baby John, directed by Kalees, is the Hindi remake of the popular Tamil film Theri. It stars Varun Dhawan as DCP Satya Verma who juggles battling a sex trafficking ring and protecting his daughter. The movie marks Keerthy Sush's foray into Bollywood. It also stars Wamiqa Gabbi and Jackie Shroff in important roles of the film.

The film was produced by Priya Atlee, Murad Khetani, and Jyoti Deshpande in association with A for Apple Studios and Cine1 Studios. Everyone expected the film to be one of the prominent box office hits for Christmas.

Although the movie had a mixed reception in cinemas, Baby John seems to have great success on streaming platforms with fans appreciating the nail biting story and action packed performances of the cast.

It made Rs 61 crore worldwide with Rs 47.3 crore of the figure being India's gross collection, which is not so great from the expectations for the film. As a remake of Vijay's Theri, Baby John had a healthy budget, but net collections faced severe competition from Pushpa 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King. Because of this competition, the box office collection suffers considerably.

The actor has previously stated that Baby John was an important film for him as it required him to step outside of his comfort zone in terms of physicality and performance.
