If you think Uttarakhand is just about tourism and temples, the latest Economic Survey presented by the Dhami government will make you think again. The state is officially on a fast track to becoming an economic powerhouse in Northern India.
The Big Number: ₹2.91 Lakh The most exciting takeaway from the report is the Per Capita Income. On average, a person in Uttarakhand is now earning ₹2,91,581 per year. To put that in perspective, that is a jump of over 12% from the previous year. While the rest of the country is growing steadily, Uttarakhand’s citizens are seeing their pockets get deeper at a much faster rate.
GDP Touching the Clouds The state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is no longer just a "small state" statistic. It has reached a whopping ₹3.90 lakh crore. We are talking about a growth rate of over 7.58%, which is a clear sign that the industries, services, and tourism sectors are firing on all cylinders.
Where is the money coming from? It’s not just one thing. The survey highlights a "Triple Threat" of growth:
Manufacturing: Small and medium enterprises in the plains are booming.
Tourism: A record-breaking Char Dham Yatra and adventure tourism have pumped billions into the local economy.
Services: Tech and hospitality services are expanding beyond the major hubs like Dehradun and Haldwani.
The "Double Engine" Effect Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s government is attributing this success to massive infrastructure projects—think the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail line and improved highway connectivity. Better roads mean better business, and the numbers finally prove it.
Of course, challenges like migration from the higher hills (Palan) still exist, but with the economy growing this fast, the hope is that more "Pahadis" will find lucrative opportunities right at home.
