UPRRDA’s Shiv Sahay Awasthi states, "Keshav ji’s vision is not merely to build better rural roads, but to construct outstanding ones
Mr. Awasthi noted that under the Deputy Chief Minister's guidance, Uttar Pradesh now boasts a rural road network spanning over 80,000 kilometers, and UPRRDA is entering the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-IV). This phase will prioritize quality, durability, innovation, weather resilience, and 'last-mile connectivity' in road construction.
He remarked that improved rural roads are not just a means of transport but a vital link connecting farmers to markets. These roads facilitate the transport of rural produce to market yards and goods made by women in self-help groups to the marketplace, while also easing access to education, skill development, and employment opportunities for the youth. Better road connectivity also helps in delivering the benefits of schemes—such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, self-help group initiatives, rural employment programs, and skill development schemes—to eligible families more effectively.
Mr. Awasthi stated that under the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad, Uttar Pradesh is committed to adopting new technologies and best practices in rural road construction. The objective is not merely improvement, but the attainment of excellence. By implementing insights gained from the PMGSY 'Chintan Shivir' (brainstorming session), rural roads in the state will be built to be more durable, safe, eco-friendly, and future-ready. He emphasized that a robust rural road network represents a significant step towards achieving the goals of self-reliant villages, an empowered rural economy, and a developed Uttar Pradesh.
