Sardar Patel’s resolve for unity, Modi’s vision for a developed India; the face of Uttar Pradesh is being transformed through modern railways: Keshav Prasad Maurya

Post

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya stated that Prayagraj is not merely a confluence of three sacred rivers, but a grand convergence of faith, education, justice, and culture. He commended the extensive services provided by Indian Railways during the arrival of approximately 660 million (66 crore) pilgrims for the Mahakumbh-2025. Under the guidance of the Prime Minister, efforts are continuously underway to integrate the historical and religious significance of Prayagraj with modern infrastructure.

He noted that the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, manufactured under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, serves as a symbol of indigenous technology, the vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India), and the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the modernization and electrification of Indian Railways, the expansion of passenger amenities, and improvements in safety systems are progressing at an unprecedented pace.

The Deputy Chief Minister mentioned that 157 railway stations in Uttar Pradesh are being modernized under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ at a cost of approximately ₹7,746 crore. Railway projects worth over ₹1.20 lakh crore are currently underway across the state. Development works at various stations—including Prayagraj Junction, Rambagh, Jhunsi, Subedarganj, and Daraganj—are providing passengers with modern facilities. Railway stations are no longer just transit points; they are evolving into new hubs for commerce, employment, and economic activity.

Shri Maurya requested the Railway Minister to increase the frequency of the Prayagraj–Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus AC Duronto Express from twice a week to daily, and to increase the frequency of the Prayagraj–Ahmedabad Superfast Express from once a week to three times a week. He also highlighted the need to establish an administrative center in Prayagraj to ensure better coordination among various railway-related operational systems. He emphasized that, given the scale of major events like the Kumbh and Ardh Kumbh held in Prayagraj, the continuous expansion of railway facilities is essential.
