A serious case of administrative apathy and police negligence has come to light in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, where the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) has suspended the Khair police station in-charge, Inspector Sanjeev Kumar, for intentionally delaying a First Information Report (FIR) and omitting crucial allegations. The disciplinary action follows a complaint by a young woman from neighboring Hathras who accused a local youth of exploiting her in a five-year relationship under false promises of marriage.
Five-Year Relationship Fraud and 15-Day Delay in FIR Registration
The victim approached the Khair police station alleging that a youth from Pala Jarara had maintained physical relations with her for half a decade on the pretext of marriage, only to back out when wedding discussions commenced. Despite the gravity of the allegations, local police delayed registering a formal case for 15 days. Compounding the negligence, investigating officers deliberately left out the core charges regarding physical relations from the initial FIR document, forcing the distressed survivor to escalate her grievance directly to the SSP's office for intervention.
Inquiry Indicts Station In-Charge and Sparks Major Police Reshuffle
Following the victim's appeal, the SSP assigned a thorough inquiry to CO Khair, Abhishek Patel. The investigation substantiated the woman's claims, leading to the immediate suspension of Inspector Sanjeev Kumar and the initiation of strict departmental proceedings against him. In addition, Dial-112 personnel Head Constable Ramputra and Constable Umesh Kumar were also suspended for professional negligence and suspicious conduct. To restore administrative integrity, the SSP appointed Inspector Rajiv Kumar—formerly stationed at Atrauli—as the new Khair police station in-charge, alongside a wider reshuffle involving several inspectors and sub-inspectors across Madrak, Gangiri, and Gorai jurisdictions to send a clear message against laxity in public safety matters.
