Uttar Pradesh to Conduct Full-Scale Civil Defence Mock Drills on May 7 Across All Districts:

Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Uttar Pradesh has announced a Comprehensive Civil Defence Mock Drill which will be conducted in all districts on 2025-05-07. This is part of a nationwide campaign resulting from increasing border tensions with Pakistan. The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued this in view of “new and complex threats” post the Pahalgam terror incident.

Coordinating with Police and Fire Disaster Units

The State Director General of Police Prashant Kumar informed that all pillars such as the civil chain, administration, police force, fire departments, and disaster response units will take part in this combined drill.

He mentioned that 19 major districtas have been singled out for concentrated drilling exercises.

Category A: 1 district

Category B: Most of the other districts

Category C: 2 districts

The district designation for categories will not restrict the precision of the drills which will be conducted in all districts for overarching readiness.

The State Government Supports the Centrals Approach

Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister said,

“Every single citizen of the nation must be battle ready given the current national security scenario… this exercise might prove effective in countering terrorism.”

ABVP Calls for National Youth Engagement

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad the students wing of RSS has come in support of the central initiative. In a statement, ABVP claimed that the security of the nation is a joint effort and advocated all youth and students along with educational institutions to actively take part in the exercise.

Colleges and schools should transform into centers of preparedness and patriotism,” as quoted by ABVP National General Secretary Virendra Singh Solanki calling upon all the people to fortify Bharat in a self reliant manner.

What Will Be Included In The Drill:

Activation of air raid sirens

Blackout simulations and evacuation drills

Testing of control rooms and (shadow) backup operations

Coordination with Indian Air Force

Training civilians in first aid, and public emergency shelter, emergency fire safety

Critical Infrastructure will be shielded

This exercise marks the largest civil defense exercise in India since 1971, in addition to enhancing civilian and institutional preparedness for possible emergency situations.
