Suspense crime, Digital Desk : This year, President Donald Trump resumed office. Shortly thereafter, he issued a full pardon to Paul Walczak, a former Nursing Home executive from Florida. Walczak was previously charged with the misuse of employee tax write off on their payroll for personal lavish expenditures. As of now, his release came a few weeks after his mother, Elizabeth Fago, attended Trump’s 1 million dollar fundraiser held in Mar-a-Lago.

Culprit and How He Was Charged

Paul Walczak aged 55 was brought to trial over gording onto an extreme lifestyle supported by his opulent spending habits which included a yacht worth two million dollars. Along with him being sentenced for 18 months, in prison for over 10 million dollars worth of employee tax with holdings he was also charged 4.4 million dollars post his sentence. Walczak did receive a presidential pardon but only two weeks post being sentenced.

Reasons And Arguments For The Pardon And Walczak’s Links To Politics
Focused around the chosen submission reason through the clemency application argued the claim of his case being politically biased relating to his mother’s connections with Trump. The person underneath the clemency application had looked into the case further and had connections with Trump through Fago who invested heavily into Trump. Another reason the chosen clemency application refers to other political figures who sketch family members who come under scrutiny.

Elizabeth Fago’s name also popped up in relation to a political controversy concerning the alleged stolen diary of President Joe Biden’s daughter, Ashley Biden. In relation to a scandal surrounding the diary, Fago hosted a political event that was attended by prominent affiliates of Trump. Unlike other people who were charged in regard to the theft, Fago and her daughter, Stephanie, became named in warrants but never formally charged.

While promoting the Mar-a-Lago dinner as an exclusive political event where surpassing a million dollars would guarantee one-on-one time with the president, Fago and other elite donors were given access to Trump. It cannot be verified whether Fago actually paid the exorbitant price, but her attendance during the event was precisely when her son’s clemency application was being “evaluated.”

The pardon has sparked renewed allegations regarding the possible misuse of presidential pardon powers for personal or political reasons. Ethical analysts have focused on the equally concerning trend of Trump’s pardons appearing to be extend selectively based on personal loyalty or financial support received. It has become clear that public perception has been largely polarized with many criticizing the clemency process lacking integrity.
