Suspense crime, Digital Desk : As a report by Axios notes, former U.S. President Donald Trump met with Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer at the White House. Their conversation most likely involved the Iran nuclear negotiations and the fighting in Gaza.
Both the U.S and Israeli governments have chosen not to comment on the meeting. This follows Dermer’s separate meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday along with other White House level deals and meetings.
A Fourth Round of Nuclear Talks with the U.S. Callable in Oman
Iranian media has hinted that the fourth round of nuclear talks between the US and Iran may take place in Oman this coming weekend, possibly on May 11. US lead negotiator Witkoff stated that the country is working to restart talks that resolve the enduring disputes regarding Iran’s nuclear activities.
While western countries accuse Iran of building nuclear weapons, the Trump administration has claimed that they would use military force if no diplomatic solution is found.
Intensifying Crisis of Gaza Draws Attention from Around the World
Moreover, Israel's Security Cabinet has greenlit a plan that may entail surrendering control of humanitarian aid into Gaza as well as taking complete administrative control over it. Israel has prohibited the entry of aid into Gaza since March.
The humanitarian situation continues to decline. Following Hamas's attack on Israel in October 2023, which resulted in 1,200 Israeli deaths and 250 hostages taken, Israel’s military operations have inflicted over 52,000 Palestinian deaths, claimed Gaza’s health ministry. Furthermore, the onslaught has almost completely displaced the population of Gaza, leading to accusations of war crimes and genocide – claims Israel denies.
Backlash for Trump’s Stance Towards Gaza
Trump has been under fire from the global community for allegedly endorsing a plan that includes relocating the population of Gaza while placing the territory under American administration. Critics, including human rights groups, the U.N., and Arab nations contend that such actions would amount to ethnic cleansing.
