In a major move to streamline the fuel distribution network, the Rajasthan government and oil marketing companies have announced a significant shift in how domestic gas cylinders are delivered. Starting May 1, 2026, gas agencies will strictly implement the OTP-based delivery system and a mandatory waiting period between bookings. This update is set to impact millions of consumers across the state.

The Mandatory OTP System: How It Works

Gone are the days when a delivery man could simply drop off a cylinder and collect the cash. Under the new guidelines, the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system is now mandatory.

When you book a refill, a unique 4-digit OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. You must provide this code to the delivery personnel at your doorstep. The delivery will only be marked as completed in the official records once the code is authenticated. This measure is designed to prevent the theft of cylinders and ensure they reach the genuine consumer.

The 25-Day Booking Gap: Plan Your Kitchen Needs

One of the most critical updates for households is the introduction of a mandatory lock-in period for refills. Consumers will no longer be able to book a second cylinder immediately after receiving one.

Fixed Interval: A minimum gap of 25 days is required between two consecutive LPG bookings.

The Logic: This rule aims to curb the illegal diversion of subsidized domestic cylinders for commercial use, ensuring a fair supply for everyone.

Compulsory e-KYC for Subsidy Benefits

The government has also intensified the drive for Aadhaar-based e-KYC. This is particularly crucial for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). If your KYC is not updated, your subsidy might be credited late or suspended. Consumers are urged to visit their respective gas distributors—whether Indane, HP, or Bharat Gas—to complete their biometric verification before the May deadline.

Action Steps for Consumers

To avoid any disruption in your kitchen, ensure you follow these three steps immediately:

Update Mobile Number: If your registered number is inactive, visit your agency to update it to receive the OTP.

Verify e-KYC Status: Check your status via the official gas company apps or at the local office.

Track Your Dates: Keep a note of your last delivery date to know when you become eligible for the next booking under the 25-day rule.
