Suspense crime, Digital Desk : An unprecedented drone and missile attack by Iran on Israel has thrown global air travel into disarray, leading to widespread airspace closures across the Middle East and stranding thousands of passengers worldwide.
In a swift response to the escalating conflict, countries including Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon temporarily shut down their airspace as a critical safety precaution. Israel also closed its own airspace, effectively creating a massive no-fly zone in one of the world's most vital air corridors.
The immediate result was chaos for travelers. Numerous flights were abruptly cancelled, while others already in the air were forced to turn back or divert to alternate airports. This left thousands of passengers in limbo, scrambling for information and alternative travel arrangements.
Major international airlines were quick to react. United Airlines cancelled its flights to Tel Aviv, while European carriers like Swiss, Austrian Airlines, and Lufthansa suspended their services to several cities in the region, including Tel Aviv, Erbil, and Amman. Indian airlines, including Air India and Vistara, have also been forced to reroute their long-haul flights between India, Europe, and North America, taking longer paths to avoid Iranian airspace.
The decision to shut down the skies underscores the serious nature of the direct military engagement between Iran and Israel. Flying through an active conflict zone poses extreme risks to civilian aircraft. While some countries have begun to reopen their airspace, the situation remains highly volatile, with airlines and travelers alike facing continued uncertainty amid the heightened geopolitical tensions.
